THE GUIDE TO ONLINE GROCERY SHOPPING

Updated: Oct 9, 2023

Healthy cooking starts with sourcing the right ingredients, but how do you fit it all into a busy schedule? Shopping for pantry staples and purchasing all your regular items online can not only save you time and energy, but if you know the right places to shop, it can save you money too. Below is a list of my favorite places to order items online so you can check grocery shopping off your to-do list (except fresh produce, of course!) and save money like a pro.

BUDGET-CONSCIOUS

Vitacost is a one-stop-shop for all your pantry staples, supplements, oils, protein powders, seasonings, and household supplies, all at a discount compared to your local grocery store. The average savings is around 23% compared to Whole Foods, Erewhon, and other Natural Grocers.

They also ship super-fast (I’m talking lightning speed) and free (on orders over $49), including international shipping to several countries.

Pro Tip: Save even more money if you are signed up for Rakuten – a cash-back savings site. Use this link to earn $30 when you sign up. Vitacost cashback ranges anywhere from 3%-10% everytime you shop, so that's additional savings right there.

They carry all my favorite brands, that often offer additional discount codes, including the below:

  • Pure Encapsulations (Supplements)

  • Dr. Mercola (Supplements)

  • Enzymedica (Supplements)

  • Primal Kitchen Foods

  • Chosen Foods

  • Bionaturae

  • Jovial Foods (Gluten Free Pasta)

  • Woodstock Foods

  • Sunwarrior

  • Navitas Organics

  • Bob’s Red Mill

  • Mamma Chia

  • Siete Foods

  • Rao's Marinara Sauces

  • Lesser Evil Foods

  • Numi Tea

  • Traditional Medicinals Teas

  • Yogi Tea

  • Simply Organics Spices

  • Seventh Generation Cleaning Products

  • Attitude Cleaning Products

  • If You Care

  • Acure

  • Rael

Thrive Market is similar to Vitacost but with a yearly membership fee, which may be worth it to you considering all of their own name-brand items.

They also offer free shipping on orders over $50.

SPECIALITY STORES

Bread SRSLY makes a seriously good gluten-free sourdough bread. The breads are also free from eggs, dairy, nuts, refined sugars, and other common allergens.

Pro Tip: Use Code: SHGUIDE for $5 off your first order on their website

I love Cocobakes for their breads that tick all the boxes: organic, gluten-free, grain-free, vegan, and refined sugar free.

COYOTAS TORTILLAS

Coyotas make the best tortillas without wheat, corn, or eggs (they are made from cassava flour). They keep best in the freezer, so buying the 3 or 5 pack is worth it because you will go through them fast. They also offer free shipping! If you like to shop on amazon, you can also order them via Amazon here.

High-quality, good-tasting wild fish, can be hard to come by at the grocery store. I also switched to Vital Choice when I got tired of taking a special trip to the fish market for fresh fish during the week.

While the fish at Vital Choice is expensive, it is worth it for the superior quality. It also ships frozen, so you can buy in bulk and save up to 20%.

Shipping is also free on orders over $99, and they offer a rewards program, so if you sign up, you will earn points to redeem for a discount on your purchase. Click Here!

Pique Tea sells some of the purest and healthiest teas. All teas come in powder form and are bagless (which means no microplastics or mysterious chemicals leaching into your tea). I am addicted to their sun goddess matcha (I'm on a subscription) and also love their ginger digestion tea.

Pro Tip: Follow my affiliate link for 5% off your first order on their website.

NUFYX

Nufyx is a plant-based protein powder I use from time to time. It's made with clean, minimal ingredients and you can get 15% off your first order with code 'JACEY' when you order directly from their website.

Primal Kitchen is a one-stop shop for all your clean pantry swaps, condiments, and staples. They offer everything from ketchup & mustard to avocado oil, olive oil, and salad dressings. You can also find this brand on Vitacost.

Pro Tip: Use code: SHGUIDE10 for 10% off your order on their website.

Not all olive oils are created equal. In fact, many are blended with cheaper vegetable oils and fillers. When shopping for olive oil, look for 100% Extra Virgin Olive Oil in a dark or matte bottle. EVOO is olive oil in its purest form. Brightland checks all those boxes. They also come in beautiful (UV-protected) bottles that will brighten up your kitchen and your day.

Olive Oils can get expensive when they are high quality, but Brightland is pretty enough to sit on your kitchen counter and brighten up your kitchen.

For a more budget-friendly bottle, I also recommend Bionaturae, which you can find on Vitacost.

SUPPLEMENT SHOPS

Vimergy is one of the cleanest supplement brands around, which is why it is one of Medical Mediums top recommendations for supplements. Order in bulk and save 15% off your order. You can also order via amazon - they ship directly from the vendor.

Vitacost is where I buy my supplements by Pure Encapsulations and Dr. Mercola and they carry many more brands at a discount.

Pharmaca has several brick-and-mortar stores across the West Coast, but you can also order online. Shop online for supplements from Thorne Research, Pure Encapsulations, Dr. Mercola, and more.
